Formula Student Electric

AMKmotion has been involved in Formula Student Electric (FSE) since its inception. Motors from our product portfolio for mechanical engineering provide an outstanding basis for eMobility solutions. Their unique power density ensures top performance in industry and on the road. For example, all previous overall winners of the FSE electric racing series were on the road with AMKmotion drives, and the 2015 world record for the fastest acceleration of an electric vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.779 seconds was also caught by a racing car with an AMKmotion drive.

Worldrecord 2015 with AMKmotion Power 0-100 km/h in 1,779 seconds!

It was in 2012 when a team of students from Stuttgart came up with the idea when looking at the acceleration times of their self-built vehicle to set a world record in the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h. Sooner said than done: With the dynamics of the servo motors from AMKmotion in Kirchheim and the engine experts the Green Team they made the entry into book of records with 2.68 seconds. After the record from 2013 cracked by the E-racer from Delft - also equipped with AMKmotion drives, it was at last, the students of the ETH Zurich, lined up in 2014 a new record. Of course the students from Stuttgart have rededicated the project "world record". With complete success:

As part of the motor sport event "Jade Race Mariensiel" (17th -19th July 2015) the students from Stuttgart accelerated with their self-constructed race cars E0711-5 in only 1.779 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h.

The technical requirements suits: the world record car - each wheel is driven by a synchronous servo motor with embedded magnets. The high power density is essential for a low mass of the drive. 4 x 32 kW of AMKmotion ensure the necessary "Drive". As it always depends at an acceleration record on every gram, the ultra-compact servo inverters from AMKmotion are ideal components that make a significant contribution to the excellent acceleration values with a sophisticated control of the acceleration process.

The motors are standard serial motors, that provide highest performance in the machine construction every day. They were adapted by our specialists especially for motor racing applications.

The fifth victory in six races

True to Cicero, who once said "Glory follows the proficiency like a shadow" a team with electric AMKmotion drives won Formula Student Germany Electric (FSE) at the Hockenheimring for the fifth time the coveted title in 2015.

Hockenheim in August 2015:

This year 40 teams gave one's eye teeth with their self-constructed electric race cars at the Hockenheimring: everything was screwed, programmed and presented. It was hard to think about sleep for most of the teams.

For six days, the students had to prove oneself in disciplines such as "endurance race", "acceleration", "laying eight", "autocross" and “long distance race”. Furthermore, a jury of experts from the motorsport, automotive and supplier industry estimated  the design, the cost and business plan of the producing racing team.

Not only the victorious DUT Racing Team from the Dutch Delft is on the road with an AMKmotion-drive package this season, three more teams came up with good results in Hockenheim. The Green Team from the University of Stuttgart landed in the overall ranking on third place, the Stuttgart DHBW engineering team placed number sixth and Munich Motorsport scored a respectable eleventh place in the overall rankings of the Formula Student Germany.

The compact, permanent-energized synchronous motors in combination with the power electronics from Kirchheim / Teck were already in the past a real title guarantee: Four of five overall victories have already been run in previous years at Hockenheim. Already at the start of electric racing series in 2010, the AMKmotion-motorized Green Team, University of Stuttgart won the title. This team had also recently retracted just again the world record in terms of acceleration. Their racing car accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in just 1.779 seconds. That is faster than the free fall.

The high power density is crucial for a low mass of the drive. 4 x 32 kW ensure the necessary "Drive". As it always depends on the weight at a race car, the ultra-compact servo inverters from AMKmotion are ideal components with a sophisticated control of the acceleration process that make a significant contribution to the excellent results.

The motors are standard serial motors, that provide highest performance in the machine construction every day. They were adapted by our specialists from the swabian Kirchheim/Teck especially for motor racing applications.

Victory in Silverstone! DUT Racing Team starts with overall victory in the new season

In mid-July 2015 the Formula Student team has started the new season. An initial location decision took place in Silverstone/Great Britain for a total of 131 teams from 32 countries. For the first race event of the year more than 90 teams were registered. The special feature of the race at traditional circuit in Silverstone: All teams, whether combustion engines or electric drives, start in one racing class. More pleasing that the DUT Racing Team of Delft University could retract the overall victory with AMKmotion drives. The TU Munich was happy about fifth place.

The Green Team at University of Stuttgart won the sprint (autocross), however they had trouble with the English heavy rain. Unfortunately, our friends from Hannover could not intervene the races due to a battery fire.
